هل تعرف سبب إقامة عيد العمال في يوم 1 مايو؟
إنه يوم إعدام النقابيين الأمريكيين "ساكو وفنزيتي"؛ فأثناء مظاهرة عمالية احتجاجًا على ظروف العمل القاسية في ثمانينيات القرن التاسع عشر
حدثت اشتباكات بين المتظاهرين وقوات الشرطة التي استدعيت للسيطرة على المظاهرة، وقُتل رجل بوليس، وتم القبض على القياديين النقابيين ساكو وفنزيتي، وحوكما،
وصدر الحكم بإعدامهما، ونفذ الحكم رغم العديد من الاحتجاجات وعدم كفاية الأدلة،
ثم ثبت بعد ذلك أن القتيل قد قتل بيد أحد زملائه، وأن الرصاصة انطلقت من مسدس شرطة!!
وصار اسما ساكو وفنزيتي عَلمًا على القهر والتعسف وإدانة الأبرياء لأٍسباب أخرى، وأنتج عن قصتهما العديد من الأفلام والأعمال الدرامية، ومؤخرًا علق أحد النشطاء الأمريكان على فكرة الخط الأحمر الذي يجب ألا تتعداه المظاهرات بمقتضى القانون قائلاً: "حسنا خروجنا للشوارع غير قانوني، ولكن إعدام ساكو وفنزيتي قانوني.. أنا فخور بكوني مخالفًا للقانون".
وصار يوم 1 مايو يوم إعدام ساكو وفنزيتي يوم عيد للعمال في كل مكان في العالم إلا في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية!!
ولم يكن هذان النقابيان هما الوحيدين حتى نقول بأنها حالة منفردة أو أن هذا كان في التاريخ القديم!!
لكن كما يقول المفكر الكبير وعالم اللغويات نعوم تشومسكي
"الحريات في الولايات المتحدة مكفولة للقوى فقط".
