ذكرت صحيفة ''واشنطن تايمز'' الأمريكية '' Reported The Washington Times'' of America، أن مجموعة من أكثر من 400 جندي أمريكي U.S. Army تستعد للانتشار بمصر لمدة 9 أشهر في عملية لحفظ السلام والحد من أعمال الشغب والمظاهرات.
وقالت الصحيفة في تقرير نشرته على موقعها على الانترنت، الجمعة، إن تلك المجموعة من الجنود تصل إلى مصر كجزء من القوة الدولية لحفظ السلام، وأن مهمتهم ستكون في تأمين النقاط الأمنية بسيناء لمنع أي اعتداءات قد تؤثر على معاهدة السلام بين مصر وإسرائيل.
وأضافت الصحيفة أن هؤلاء الجنود مُصرح لهم بالاشتباك إذا وصلت المظاهرات وأعمال الشغب إلى النقطة التي تهدد أمن إسرائيل، مشيرة إلى أن تدريباتهم اشتملت على كيفية التعامل مع قنابل المولوتوف.
وأوضحت الصحيفة أن القوة تتكون من جنود من 13 دولة بخلاف أمريكا، وأن موعد انطلاقهم إلى مصر لم يتحدد بعد .
ولكنها عادت ونقلت على لسان مصادرها أنَّهم سيغادرون إلى مصر في وقت قريب.
واختتمت الصحيفة خبرها بالقول بأن هؤلاء الجنود قد تلقوا تدريبات لمدة 6 أشهر في ''فورت هود'' ومركز التدريب الوطني في ''فورت إيروين'' بكاليفورنياTraining Center in Fort Irwin,'''' California..
